④英語圏の社会・文化背景を理解し、場面に合った適切な英語表現（丁寧表現など）を使うことができる。
授業概要(教育目的) 英語のスピーキングとリスニングに関する既習事項を確認・活用して，自分自身が伝達したいことを音声で表現できるようになること，そして相手が伝達したいことを聴き取って理解できるようになることを目的とします。
This class gives students the opportunity to develop basic skills in speaking and listening. Attention mainly focuses on pronunciation, intonation and basic communication strategies.

授業形式 演習形式を中心として授業を進め，ペアまたはグループによる練習なども行います。内容理解を確認するための小テストや課題提出等を随時課します。
This class lays stress on practical training, including work in pairs or groups. Comprehension quizzes and assignments will be given as needed.

参考文献 英和・和英辞書(大学生・社会人レベルのもの)を毎回持参すること。(電子辞書可)
オフィスアワー(授業相談) 授業終了後講師室(火曜：本館２階、木曜：７号館３階)にて対応します。
事前学習の内容など，学生へのメッセージ 受講者の皆さんは、既に英語の学習経験もあり、基本的な文法や身の回りの事物を表現することは可能でしょう。しかし、その英語を意思伝達や必要な情報入手の「道具」として使いこなせているでしょうか。本授業では、日本語と同程度に英語における自己表現を実現することを目標に、社会的/一般的な話題を取り扱ったテキストを使用して英語を運用する能力を養います。目についたものから気がついたことから英語だけで表現するように日々努めていけばこの目標達成は十分可能です。また、英語という「異文化」への認識/理解を深めることでさらにその「道具」は「武器」として有効活用されるでしょう。
