異文化理解を基本テーマとして，言語，社会，文化について書かれた英文を読み，読解力を向上させ，異文化・日本文化についての理解を深めることを目標とします。
The goal of this class is for students to develop reading skills in English, and to extend their knowledge of intercultural communication and multicultural society. |

授業概要(教育目的) |
異文化との接触，多文化社会について学習を進めます。読解力を向上させるとともに，授業中に取り上げた話題に関して，自分自身の考えを発展させることを目的とします。
This class focuses on topics related to contacts between different cultures and to multicultural societies. Students are expected to improve reading skills and develop ideas about the topics dealt with in class. |

演習形式を中心として授業を進めます。内容理解を確認するための小テストや課題提出等を随時課します。
This class attaches importance to practical training. Comprehension quizzes and assignments will be given as needed. |

アッツプル社を創立したSteve Jobs の伝説のスピ-チと長年日本文学を世界に紹介した日本文学者Donald Keene の2冊をテキストとして使用しますので、この2冊を購入してください。
Steve Jobs のテキストは、毎回1章を読み、Donald Keene は、２ペ-ジを読むことを目標にします。予め十分は予習が望まれます。予習の段階で、理解できない箇所は、授業中にどのように辞書を使用し、考えていけばいいのかを具体的に説明します。 |
