学習目標(到達目標) 異文化理解を基本テーマとして，言語，社会，文化について書かれた英文を読み，読解力を向上させ，異文化・日本文化についての理解を深めることを目標とします。
The goal of this class is for students to develop reading skills in English, and to extend their knowledge of intercultural communication and multicultural society.
授業概要(教育目的) 異文化との接触，多文化社会について学習を進めます。読解力を向上させるとともに，授業中に取り上げた話題に関して，自分自身の考えを発展させることを目的とします。
This class focuses on topics related to contacts between different cultures and to multicultural societies. Students are expected to improve reading skills and develop ideas about the topics dealt with in class.

評価の特記事項 全授業回数の80%以上の出席を単位取得の最低条件とします。遅刻(または早退)2回で1回の欠席とみなします。また、30分以上の遅刻/早退は欠席とみなします。

オフィスアワー(授業相談) 授業後に対応します。
事前学習の内容など，学生へのメッセージ ｢ミュージック・オブ・ハート」という映画は多文化社会の典型ともいえるアメリカのニューヨーク市の音楽の先生と彼女を取り巻く社会状況の実話を基にした物語です。２冊目の教科書"New York"の内容とも連動しており、教科書で読んだ内容を映像と音声で確認していきます。上記の授業計画にあるpreparationに示す教科書のページを予め読み、新出語などはすべて辞書で確認し、練習問題も行い、十分に予習した上で授業に臨んでください。さらに、十分な復習、および積極的な授業参加が良い評価につながります。

第1回目の授業には、教科書（２冊）を購入した上で必ず出席してください。
