授業概要(教育目的) 英語のスピーキングとリスニングに関する既習事項を確認・活用して,自身が伝達したいことを音声で表現できるようになること,そして相手が伝達したいことを聴き取って理解できるようになることを目的とします。
This class gives students the opportunity to develop basic skills in speaking and listening. Attention mainly focuses on pronunciation, intonation and basic communication strategies.

第1回Introduction and listening practiceExplain course. Students listen to teachers introduction and answers questions. PREPARATION: Students prepare a short introduction about their partner and give a short presentation in the next class.
第2回Short presentations and prepare for discussionsStudents give a short presentation about their partner and learn how to do group discussions. PREPARATION: Students prepare to do 5 different group discussion at home for next class.
第3回Group discussions and begin Lesson 1 Meeting People and "small talk"Students do a group discussion. Students begin textbook pages 4 and 5. They learn how to greet each other and to develop "small talk". PREPARATION: Students read pages 6, 7, 8 and 9 for next class.
第4回Lesson 1 Meeting People Developing a conversation and finishing a conversationStudent learn to talk about their school and work. They also learn how to finish a conversation. Students also discuss different gestures from different cultures on page 10. PREPARATION: Students do Lesson 1 print for homework that will be checked in the next class.
第5回Check Lesson 1 homework and begin Lesson 2 Telephoning - Telephone business mannersStudents check Lesson 1 review print. Students listen to telephone conversations and practice telephone manners and expressions. PREPARATION: Students read page 14, 15, 16, and 17 that will be practiced next class.
第6回Lesson 2 Telephoning Taking messages. Students listen to messages and correct the errors. They create their own messages and practice with a partner. PREPARATION: Students do Lesson 2 review print for homework that will be checked the next class.
第7回Check Lesson 2 review print and Lesson 3 Schedules and appointments, days and datesStudents listen to people on a CD making appointments. They practice making appointments with their partner. They listen to people discussing schedules. PREPARATION: Students read page 24 and prepare to discuss how time is different in different cultures.
第8回Lesson 3 Schedules and appointments continue making schedules and discussing days and dates.Students continue practicing making appointments and learning dates and time. Students discuss page 24 about how time is different in different cultures. PREPARATION: Students do Lesson 3 review print that will be checked in the next class. 第9回Check Lesson 3 review print and begin Lesson 4 Company Performance Discussing graphs. Students check Lesson 3 homework. Students learn phases that help them describe graphs. Students practice using phases such as "Rose sharply, fell sharply, fell slightly". PREPARATION: Students read page 28 "Work conditions" to be discussed in the next class.
第10回Lesson 4 Company Performance Comparing automobiles. Discussing work conditions. Students learn how to use the comparative and superlative when describing products. They also learn how to use large numbers from 10,000 to 100,000,000. Students also discuss their work conditions based on page 28. PREPARATION: Students do Lesson 4 review print and read Lesson 5 page 32 for homework.

They also learn how to describe different products talking about size, weight, length, height and purpose. PREPARATION: Students should be prepared to discuss a company that they did research on for next class.

They will also discuss Living and working abroad from page 38. PREPARATION: Students do Lesson 5 review print and read page 39 for next class.
