学習目標(到達目標) By the end of the course, students will understand: (1) How an economy develops; (2) How government policies positively (and sometimes negatively) affect economic development; and (3) How an economy should be assisted to promote economic development.
授業概要(教育目的) The purpose of this course is to present the basic analytical framework on economic development. In particular we will study the market forces and policies that affect economic development. Development policies along with the debates that surround policy will be studied.

授業形式 This course consists of lectures and in-class discussions. Students are expected to read the assigned chapter prior to the class, ask questions, present their ideas, and write reports when they are assigned. Enthusiasm matters a lot in this course.
