学習目標(到達目標) 英語による講義や調査分析・発表を中心とする演習形式の授業を通して,発信型英語運用能力を総合的に向上させることを目標とします。
This is a seminar-style class comprising purpose-oriented lessons. The goal of English Workshop is the development of all aspects of English abilities; speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
授業概要(教育目的) 特定の地域を多角的にとらえる地域研究に取り組むことなどを通して,英語運用能力を総合的に発展させることを目的とします。
This class focuses on ‘Area Studies’ which approaches a particular geographic, national, or cultural area from several viewpoints. The primary emphasis is on active participation through opinions based on the materials used.

授業形式 ワークショップは「お互いに学び合う場」です。受講者がお互いの感想や考えを述べ,話し合うことを通して,ある事柄に対する理解を深めていくことに主眼をおいて授業を進めます。内容理解を確認するための小テストや課題提出等を随時課します。
Students are expected to deepen their understanding of certain topics by expressing and exchanging opinions. Comprehension quizzes and assignments will be given as needed.

参考文献 At least one regular dictionary for working with the English language is recommended.

事前学習の内容など,学生へのメッセージ The selected topics cover two lessons each. In the first lesson, students will write an interpretive essay based on a hand-out with vocabulary items to be found in the textbook; in the second lesson, students will do a group project based on related materials brought to class.
