学習目標(到達目標) From this lecture, students will learn basic theories and methods for analyzing economic statistics of Japan and other countries, and acquire practical skills for data analysis and presentation using EXCEL.
この科目では，経済統計の基本的な理論・手法を英語で学び，英語での分析資料作成の能力及びEXCELを基礎とした統計分析スキルを習得します。
授業概要(教育目的) This lecture series will focus mainly on methods of descriptive statistics referring to real examples of socio-economic statistics of Japan and the world.
この講義では，記述統計の基礎的な理論と方法を中心に，日本と世界の社会経済統計の事例やそれを用いた演習を通じて英語で学びます。

第1回IntroductionOutline and contents of the course will be explained. Students will study basic concepts of descriptive statistics and the framework of economic statistics.
第2回Descriptive Statistics (1)Measures for analyzing univariate data will be explained. Students will study how to use descriptive measures. Read the handouts distributed in advance.
第3回Descriptive Statistics (2)
Measures for analyzing bivariate will be explained. Students will study how to use descriptive measures. Read the handouts distributed in advance.
第4回Descriptive Statistics (3)
Exercises will be given. Review the three previous lessons in advance.
第5回Demographic Statistics (1)
The framework of demographic statistics and methods for analyzing structural demographic statistics will be explained. Students will study how to analyze demographic structures. Read the handouts distributed in advance.
第6回Demographic Statistics (2)
Basic concepts and analytical methods of vital statistics will be explained. Students will study how to analyze population dynamics. Read the handouts distributed in advance.
第7回Demographic Statistics (3)Exercises will be given. Review the two previous lessons.
第8回Labor Statistics (1)The framework of labor statistics and methods for analyzing labor statistics will be explained. Students will study how to analyze labor statistics. Read the handouts distributed in advance.
第9回Labor Statistics (2)Exercises will be given. Review the previous lesson in advance.
第10回Household Income and Expenditure (1)Basic concepts and analytical methods of household income and expenditure statistics will be explained. Students will study how to analyze the household economies and the factors affecting the economic behavior of households. Read the handouts distributed in advance.
第11回Household Income and Expenditure (2)
Exercises will be given. Review the previous lesson in advance.
第12回Price Indices (1)Basic theories and concepts of price indices will be explained, and students will study the historical movements of prices in Japan and other countries. Read the handouts distributed in advance.
第13回Price Indices (2)Exercises on different formulae of price indices will be given. Read the handouts distributed in advance.
第14回Questions and AnswersReview and Overall Discussion. Read all the class materials in advance.
第15回Summary and ConclusionsThe points of 1-14th lessons will be summarized.
授業形式 Lectures will be given in the PC room. Students are to solve the exercise questions, and give presentations.
授業は，パソコン教室でEXCEL等を用いながら進めます。講義，演習，プレゼンテーション等を含めすべて英語で行います。資料作成，演習等を英語で行うことにより，英語での説明能力を高めることを目指します。
