This is suitable for first-year students to get familiar with Economics to start your study at Nihon University. We will learn how markets work (and sometimes fail), as well as how consumers and firms behave.
授業概要(教育目的) This class will be small in size; thereby, I would like the class to be interactive. I would give a bonus point for each comment/question you raised during the class.

第3回Thinking Like an Economist (Ch. 2)We learn the basic economic approach to various daily issues.
第4回Interdependence and the Gains from Trade (Ch.3)We learn why we trade (not just international trade, but domestic transactions also) instead of making/growing things on our own.
第5回Supply and Demand (Ch.4)We learn supply and demand model, the most basic, simple, yet the most powerful/fundamental model in economics.
第6回Elasticity and Its Application (Ch.5)We learn what elasticity is, how to calculate them, and apply it in the real-case scenario.  
第7回Supply, Demand, and Government Policies (ch.6)We learn why we need a government in our society (i.e., why markets sometimes are not sufficient for the maximum welfare of the society)

第9回Consumers, Producers, and the Efficiency of Markets (Ch. 7)We have three players in Economics - consumers, producers, and a government. We focus on the role of consumers.

第11回Externalities (Ch. 10)We learn what externalities are and how we solve them.
第12回Firms in Competitive Markets (Ch. 14)We learn how firms maximize profits in a competitive environment.
第13回Monopoly (Ch. 15) We learn why monopoly occurs in certain industries, and whether it is desirable for society as a whole.
第14回Review for the final examWe will review what we will have learned to prepare for the final exam.
第15回Final examin-class final exam.
授業形式 I don't subtract any points for your grammatical and spelling mistakes. The most important thing for you is that you understand the materials and feel comfortable with learning Economics in English.

テキスト We will use Greg Mankiw's "Principles of Economics," Mindtap version.　（Available at the bookstore)
参考文献 You are encouraged to have a look at Wall Street Journal, listen to Bloomberg video, to make yourself familiar with English terminology.
